Valentine's Day is next week, which got me thinking about famous fictional couples . . .

There are timeless couples like Romeo and Juliet, Antony and Cleopatra, and Tristan and Isolde . . .

Classic couples like Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara from Gone With the Wind, Catherine and Healthcliff from Wuthering Heights, and William Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice . . .

Contemporary couples like Gatsby and Daisy from The Great Gatsby, Meggie Cleary and Father Ralph de Bricassart from The Thorn Birds, Bridget Jones and Mark Darcy from Bridget Jones' Diary and Henry and Clare from The Time Traveler's Wife . . .

Modern-day couples like Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series, Edward and Bella from the Twilight saga, Katniss and Peeta from The Hunger Games trilogy, and Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele from the Fifty Shades trilogy.

Every reader has his or her favorite fictional couples . . .  and with every new book, the possibilities for new favorites are endless . . .

Valentine's Day is 6 days away . . . the perfect time to think about your favorite fictional couples from novels.  I invite you to share your personal favorites in the comments section below.

    1. I loved the Time Traveler's Wife, too, Kim! But, I can never resist a book with a librarian as the main character :-)

  2. My favorites are Catherine and Heathcliff from "Wuthering Heights" and Reverend Dimsdale and Hester Prine of "The Scarlet Letter." I know...I'm a classical fan! But, this was a great post, Catherine! Happy Valentine's Day! Deborah/TheBookishDame
