Thursday Thoughts ~ Books from the Backlog

Happy Thursday . . .  aka, Happy Almost Friday!!

It's time for Books from the Backlog, hosted by Carole's Random Life in Books.  It's a fun way to feature some of those neglected books sitting on your bookshelf unread.  If you are anything like me, you might be surprised by some of the unread books hiding in your stacks . . . or on your eReader.

This week's neglected book is . . .

You (You, #1)
Release Date:  September 25, 2014
Publisher:  Atria/Emily Bestler Books

From Goodreads:   When a beautiful, aspiring writer strides into the East Village bookstore where Joe Goldberg works, he does what anyone would do: he Googles the name on her credit card.

There is only one Guinevere Beck in New York City. She has a public Facebook account and Tweets incessantly, telling Joe everything he needs to know: she is simply Beck to her friends, she went to Brown University, she lives on Bank Street, and she’ll be at a bar in Brooklyn tonight—the perfect place for a “chance” meeting.

As Joe invisibly and obsessively takes control of Beck’s life, he orchestrates a series of events to ensure Beck finds herself in his waiting arms. Moving from stalker to boyfriend, Joe transforms himself into Beck’s perfect man, all while quietly removing the obstacles that stand in their way—even if it means murder.

Why I selected it:  The plot seems as though it was ripped from the headlinesstalking and using information from social media for dark purposes.

  1. I know that so many have read and liked this book. Somehow, I just never picked it up or really was inclined to read it. I'm trying to think why except I don't really like stalker storylines. Hope you enjoy it if you decide to take it off the shelf...

  2. I loved this book. The main characters is a terrible, horrible, monstrous person but the book is irresistible. I hope you enjoy it. They're currently running a televised series of this book on Lifetime and it's good too :)

  3. I liked this book but not quite as much as I thought I would. I actually liked the second book a bit more. I have heard that the audio is really well done and I do plan to revisit the book at some point.

  4. This is one I want to read, too. It does sound like its up to the minute with social media being a large part of it.
