Yesterday I attended Simon & Schuster's Fall 2013 Book Preview for librarians and educators.  This was an opportunity to learn about the many new and exciting titles coming soon from the publisher and its Gallery Books, Scribner, Touchstone, Howard Books, and Atria Books imprints.

Readers will have lots of new books to choose from in literary, inspirational, and historical fiction; romance, mystery, and suspense; new series and debut novels; and how-to guides, cookbooks, biographies and memoirs.

I came away with many advance copies of books that will be published over the next several months.  (Titles will be revealed in my next Sunday Weekly Book Recap blog post on July 21st.)

Authors Bob Drury and Tom Clavin were on hand to speak about writing their forthcoming book, The Heart of Everything That Is: The Untold Story of Red Cloud, An American Legend.  They spent three years researching the 19th century Lakota chief, who led a successful war against the United States government which resulted in the Laramie Treaty.  (Under the terms of the treaty, the U.S. was forced to abandon its Bozeman Trail forts and guarantee the Lakota possession of land including the Black Hills, a site considered sacred by the tribe.)
