Today I'm featuring 28 Summers by Elin Hilderbrand, a book I finished reading this week.  The excerpts shared are from an eBook I received from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

In 28 Summers, bestselling author Elin Hilderbrand tells the story of Mallory Blessing and Jake McCloud, who meet in Nantucket in 1993, when they are in their twenties. Today I'm featuring Detective Inspector Huss by Helene Tursten.  This is the first book in her Detective Inspector Huss series. 

 

Prologue

 

Nobody saw him fall through the dense November darkness.  With a dull, heavy thud he hit the rain-wet pavement.  Even though it was still rush hour, there were few people on the street.  The pedestrians huddled beneath umbrellas turned inside out and scrunched their chins into turned-up collars for a little protection from the icy, whipping rain.  Everyone who could was driving a car or jammed into the steaming warmth aboard a bus or streetcar.

Teaser:  Irene had a lot to think about as she sat in a mediocre pizzeria a few blocks down the street gnawing on the "daily special."

I've heard so many good things about this Swedish crime writer, this series, and its female protagonist Irene Huss that I've decided to sample the first book in the series.
